Question:  Is Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Standard available as a download key?

However, it was made available to these channels in November 2022, while it was not made available to CSP customers until January 2023.

• Microsoft wanted to focus on the most critical customers first. Enterprise customers are typically the most demanding, and they also have the largest deployments of SQL Server. Microsoft wanted to ensure these customers had access to SQL Server 2022 as soon as possible.

It is important to note that the delay in availability for CSP customers does not mean that SQL Server 2022 is not a good fit for them. CSP can be a great way to purchase SQL Server 2022, especially for small and medium-sized businesses.

Question: Does it require a Tenant to register it?

Yes, SQL Server 2022 Standard - GMGF0M80J-0002-P, a CSP license, requires a tenant to register it. This is because CSP licenses are managed through the Microsoft Partner Center, a tenant-based platform.

To register a SQL Server 2022 Standard CSP license, you will need to:

1. Go to the Microsoft Partner Center.
2. Sign in with your CSP partner account.
3. Click on the Licenses tab.
4. Click on the Add Licenses button.
5. Select SQL Server 2022 Standard from the list of products.
6. Enter the license key and click on the Validate button.
7. Once the license key has been validated, click the Add button.

Once the license has been added, you must assign it to a tenant. To do this, click on the Tenants tab and select the tenant to whom you want to assign the license. Then, click the Assign Licenses button and select the SQL Server 2022 Standard license from the list of available licenses.

Once the license has been assigned to a tenant, you can start using it to activate SQL Server 2022.

Note: You can also register a SQL Server 2022 Standard CSP license using the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). To do this, open SSMS and connect to the SQL Server instance you want to register. Then, right-click on the server instance and select Register. In the Register SQL Server dialog box, enter the license key and click the Register button.

Once the license has been registered, you must restart the SQL Server service.
